Life's for Sharing.

Yes indeed life is for sharing-well thats the gospel according to
T-Mobile-British mobile network company. I have to say that I wish I'd been somewhat involved in any of their commercials, considering I pass through the major stations on a regular basis-but this by far has to be the coolest, a-lot of time and money T-mobile have in order to do these!

'White Knuckles'

I had wondered where this group-who made dancing on treadmills look soo easy, had gone too when I saw their name pop up on the screen-however I'm not a big follower so they've probably been releasing music just not been aware of it.
I've never been so intrigued and interested as well as humoured by a music video before! I love the whole video from start to end, and think it's soo cool how they've incorporated the animals to do all the cool tricks for them, they've really taken the 'popularity route' for their vids, understanding that the more interesting the video, the higher the request demand, the more people will start singling along and making the song a chart success.

It just goes to continue to prove that being yourself and going with the flow is much more credible than blending in with the crowd.

Bordelle..oh la la..

Setting out to break into the industry with their unique style through the use of elastic satin bandages, Bordelle, was founded in 2007 by Alexandra Popa and freelance designer Javier Suarez. Their approach is that similar to ready to wear collections, creating sexy lingerie with an outerwear appeal. One of their strengths relies on attention to detail and craftsmanship, which is what set’s them apart from other body-wear and intimate apparel brands.  Chic, unique, sexy and slightly sadistic are all words that come to mind when seeing their s&m inspired pieces.

Their signature piece the ‘hourglass ‘Angela’ corselette’ is my favorite. It’s various colours, and cup shapes all celebrate the female form-which I love. This look has a ‘I’m on top’ sort of vibe yet it’s curve enhancing and embracing nature-to me releases a sense of romanticism but still remaining strong and modern-this is not for the faint hearted that’s for sure, however the various pieces within the collection still enable you to look your innocent best.

Corset dress £384

'Corset dress t-shirt worn by former Bordelle Intern and blogger Mary- see her work here.
Uber sexy and feminine, and very reminiscent of the classic Dolce and Gabbana corset dress and Herve Leger’s ‘bandage dress’, which was very big among the Hollywood scene, this corset speaks volumes on the approach and views of the Lingerie and Intimate’s market today. 100 years on from the first ‘Bra/Brassiere’ invented, to today and Bordelle’s embark of that same history makes them unique and refreshingly exciting in a way that will inflict a ‘good covet’ upon many women to agree to their new found urge of needing a Bordelle Bra, Waspie, Corset and peek-a-boo suspender.

Booming System.

Amazing isn't it? How people come up with these fabulous ideas to create and re-create again and again. I'm a lover of doing the best with what you have-even more so creating with what already exists. Designer Mikal Jessie Hameed is known for recycling products into fresh unique pieces of furniture or art. This is his latest instalment with the 'Baroque Speakers' I love this one above- the pastel colours mix well with the gold. Imagine entertaining guests with these as the main sound providers- mixing the decks from his boombox chairs of course!

All I want is you...

I am in love with this song and this video- just had to share that fact. I will be posting a proper playlist post soon. What I LOVE about this video is it's laid back cool 90's feel to it- reminding me of video's like George Michael 'Fast Love', I also love Miguel's voice-very rare these days to find someone with his tone and vocal range, God only knows why someone as dry as J Cole (my personal opinion) is on this track-they should've had Drake's beautiful harmonious vocals on here!( ooh and speaking of Drake-well let's just say that's another whole post to come)  Anyhow- I just love this track-wish itunes would hurry up and sell it, instead I'm having to stick to hearing it on youtube!!

All things wild and beautiful.

Being back at uni, I've been spending a lot of time by the coast. Last weekend I was up in Portsmouth for a Women's conference/seminar being held at the luxury 4 star Langstone Hotel in Hayling Island, tucked away nicely from the inner parts of Portsmouth overlooking Northney Marina- absolutely stunning. Anyway, I didn't get much chance to spend time outside from having to travel back and forth between Portsmouth and Bournemouth, however I wasn't too disappointed as the hotel brought the inside in with these beautiful antidotes of sea life.

The sea-shell mirror to me is soo inspiring-the colours and shapes makes me think back to New York Fashion Week SS08 and to designer Zac Posen's finishing number(s) on the runway. A range of  4 beautiful silk printed dress- with fluidity representing the sea's movements but the colours are that of when the sun shines down on the water.

Bringing us to present day is the bark twig 'overgrown' mirror. This mirror is very in line with this AW10 'Highland Fling' trend. Burberry Prorsum, Pringle and Michael Kors have all incorporated  heavy aran cable knits, ruched velvets and pleated plaids, looking all forest and highland like.( Sorry for the poor quality pics- blame the BlackBerry lol)

I truly commend the interior designers of this hotel (whoever they are) for not just deciding to make a nice fancy metropolitan hotel by the sea, instead they've fused modern and glossy interior with the hotels natural exterior interior- the sea.

Hard Nut to CLUTCH.

This AW, the micro trend coming through in accessories is the hard box clutch, coming in oval, rectangle, square and even in bird shapes. Designers like Alaia have experimented in fabric choice, using leopard and lizard prints whilst  Judith Leiber and Alexander McQueen have gone all out in embellishments and sparkle. Update and glamorise your look with eccentric and smooth shapes with great attention to detail from contrast stitching to the opening clasp.

I heart B-town..

It's that time of year again; back to uni I go- can you believe how fast time has flown and now I'm in my final year!! Originally this blog of mine was birthed out of a module from uni; a way to diarize and 'journal' our findings, inspirations, thoughts and research behind all of our projects and assessments, like anything it was all a bit new and I had many a case of writers block but now I love it and as well as my knowledge, even my blogs identity and style has  evolved.
'Sky's the limit'
By far England's best beach with actual golden sand for miles on end- our golden coast
So this post is for uni; and the beginning of my first term back. Having completed my fashion editorial placement during the summer, I am now in the entrepreneurial classes preparing me to set up and run my own business. I am really excited and ready to go; I am so loving the flexibility of this term and the freedom to create and birth what-ever we want really!
The sea's endless curve is proof that the world is round- for those who don't believe lol ;-)
As time goes by I will continue to post more on my 'uni happenings'. But most importantly with all the briefs, essays, dissertations and business plans one has to write I love it most when I come back to Bournemouth and get an opportunity to just sit at the beach and take it all in and just breathe the fresh sea air; when I'm cooped up in Warwick that's what I miss-seeing, hearing and breathing the sea; I love being at the beach. When I go there I get another chance to collect my thoughts, calm myself and feel rejuvenated to do whatever and most of all I love seeing the roundness of the earth....the endless curve of the sea as the sun rises and sets is something I really appreciate and value.

ChloƩ' don't worry he will love you in that...

This advert makes me stop and press play on my sky+ whenever I see it- never thought I'd be so happy to see an advert before. I love how Chloe and director Roman Coppola have captured the true essence of the 1970s, a look prevalent on the AW10 runways as well as the SS11 shows- a la Marc Jacobs, but that's for another post!, they've also hit the nail on the head by using Raquel Zimmerman. An amazonian women with a soft and gentle approach which is very feminine yet independent- she's one of the few who can rock a camel wide legged pair of wool trousers with a silk pussy bow blouse and look the man in a YSL Le Smoking suit!
Oh and not to forget the soundtrack you can't get any more 70s than a group with a name that means shirt in French 'Chemise'.

Lust-Have...

Kurt, your really tugging at my heart and purse strings- (in the words of 50 cent with my twist on things) this relationship stuff is too much for me, I wanna shop for shoes and live comfortably...

Seriously this is the most super-eco-chic thing ever...

Checking my inbox- Trendland's latest instalment on their newsletter is furniture made by recycling home and household items like buckets and suitcases to make fabulous granny chic folklore inspired  furniture by Katie Thompson. I will own the suitcase chair below by her in my home...it exudes Luxury and I love the duck blue suitcase!

Discography Retrospect: Kelis

Kelis's music has always been fresh, original, hip and just down right funky!
Her unique sound translates into her videos- telling stories with her weird and wonderful sound and looks has something that has made her who she is. Her style is creative, individual bold and very unique just like her music. These are just a few of my favourite tracks, but my favourite Kelis album has to be 'Tasty'.

From it's bright bold album cover to it's mellow and harmonious tracks like 'Glow' featuring artist and producer Raphael Saadiq, you really can feel the good times of Mo-town influence, and even a semi club banger like 'Milkshake' it's success as a club anthem and sound and even themes is similar to that of Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love'. But my favourite tracks as it is too difficult to pick one are the following; 'Glow', 'Millionaire', 'Trick Me', 'Sugar honey iced tea' but really I love the whole album.

The bold colour and set design makes this video look new every-time you see it. I also like how the styling has been watered down- it still works and still is Kelis.

This was when we were first introduced to Kelis in her raw original state. I think this is my favourite of her video's; controversial with a real story, great direction and I remember when I first saw this video thinking 'man I want an afro like that!'

'Milkshake' I like how this video wasn't too sweet or candy like it was normal- Kelis walking to work, gritty- downtown diner in Brooklyn that sold normal ordinary milkshake and also the reaction of the customers was just fab!

A great collaboration that produced a serious tune and I liked how the video was distant to the song in some way- it wasn't obvious 'look at me I'm a millionaire' sort of thing!

Love this video- like a real life version of the Adidas adverts and the track is just bonkers!
